WHAT WE DO
A Cup of Cold Water’s motto is: We teach you what many doctors are too busy to explain”.
How many times have you been to the doctor with a problem, and after the visit you were more concerned and confused because you did not understand what you were told? This is the issue for most people after a doctor’s visit. This I believe is the reason why many people suffer preventable chronic and seriously acute illnesses. As health care professionals we sometimes fail to explain medical conditions and problems in simple and understandable ways. I believe we should use word that is easily understood by a young child. This is one of the primary reasons A Cup Of Cold Water was founded!
A close friend and MD recently said on a TV special (Create TV San Jose) “Yvette, I have spent 20 to 30 minutes explaining to patients the problem, and they still leave without a clue.” There are other reasons people do not understand. I believe anxiety is possibly universal reason. The other might be intimidation. In that doctors are among the professions that are highly respected. Some cultures may feel that a conversation may be seen as disrespectful. If you agree or ever had any of these feelings you have come to the right site. Welcome to A Cup of Cold Water.
